1950's Dave Bell 8 1/2 Ft 3 Pc Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod Made in Colorado
For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this very hard to find Dave Bell split bamboo fly fishing rod.  It is an 8 foot three piece rod made in Denver Colorado.  It was designed as a 6 weight rod.  The butt, grip, ferrules, eyes and wraps, and the reel holder are all good and are original.  There is a decal on the rod that says Dave Bell Rod.  We dont have a tube or rod sack for this one.
Dave Bell worked as a rod maker for Goodwin Granger along with Bill Phillipson.  When Phillipson started his own company post WWII Dave Bell worked for him.  In the 1950s he began to produce rods on his own that he sold through Dave Cook and Gart Bros sporting goods in Denver.  This is one of those.  This is of split Tonkin Cane and it uses components like the seat that you will recognize from Phillipson rods of the time.
Condition is used and each of the sections is of equal 34 inch length that assembles to 8 1/2 feet.  Condition of the bamboo in the first two sections is very good.  However, halfway on the top section the bamboo is damaged.  It has some sort of tape as an attempted repair but that is certainly not adequate.  Most likely the top section will need to be replaced for the rod to be used.
