Description
Arc Pig HF welding arc starter / stabilizer. Adds HF ignition to any TIG or stick welder. The Pig eliminates scratch starts, tungsten contamination, arc rectification, and most stuck electrodes. Tames hot starts and provides continuous-fire HF for aluminum. To operate, place your electrode in weld position, then press the Pig's trigger to ignite the pilot arc. With most welders, the main arc will ignite immediately. If your welder has unusually low voltage, push the electrode in slowly and the main arc will ignite before it touches.
If your arc falters, the Pig fires to reignite it within the same AC half cycle.
Add shield gas for Aluminum TIG with your 60-Hz AC welder.
The Pig does what the Miller HF251 does, except the gas valve. TIG torches with built-in gas valves are cheap.
You can weld aluminum with your AC buzz box. See Mr. TIG's review at https://youtu.be/DmNMVdmNIU0
The Arc Pig does not control heat, so for long beads on aluminum, you may need to preheat the workpiece, or clamp it to a heat sink.
The sparks go to your torch, not your welder. The Pig will not hurt your welder, but just to be sure, we include a pair of protective capacitors for your welder's output studs. We don't bother to use them on our personal welders, but we hope you will.
The Pig is especially useful for sheet metal, where the arc is hard to maintain due to low weld power.
The Pig's inline, draggable design keeps the HF source close to your electrode, even if you use long cables. You can weld with HF 200 ft from your truck, or strap the Pig to the leg of your welding table with plastic tie-wraps. (Use plastic only! Wrapping the Pig with metal will disrupt its operation by magnetic induction.)
The Arc Pig draws all its power (about 30 watts) from your weld cables for convenience and improved safety. No wall plug!
Includes free, armored strap-on trigger with high-temp 8-ft cable. (A good length for most situations.) If you don't want to drag the Pig, you can extend the trigger cable to 25ft. We suggest high-temp appliance wire, but lamp cord will work.
The Pig works with any TIG or stick welder intended for handheld use, AC or DC, up to 60Hz.
This is not cheap crap. The Pig is a densely engineered, high-quality machine built in Texas, using a few parts from cheaper countries. (That means China.) The Pig will withstand real-world abuse, and it comes with a 2-year warranty.
The Pig's high-voltage pilot arc looks dramatic, but feels like static electricity. If you grip it firmly you won't feel it, but if it arcs through the air to your skin it is annoying. Note that normal weld voltage will still give you an unpleasant zing.
WHAT YOU GET:
1. A beautiful, efficient Arc Pig.
2. An ugly, efficient strap-on trigger. Tell us if you need a toggle trigger (for use alongside a torch-mounted power control.) Otherwise you get the pushbutton, which is more comfortable and rugged.
I am not selling you a welder. You are buying an upgrade to every TIG and stick welder you will ever own.
New in a sealed box from an authorized Arc Pig dealer, with two year factory warranty.
