Description
Buffet Crampon clarinet made in France S/N 151610Disclaimer: Described to the best of my ability but I’m not a woodwind expert and I don’t play the clarinet so please ask any questions before bidding since this instrument is sold absolutely AS IS, no refunds, returns, or price adjustments. Thanks!
Buffet Crampon clarinet (Bb I think) No model #, serial # is 151610. Age unknown. Imprint on all four sections says “Buffet Crampon & Co. Paris Made In France”. The mouthpiece and ligature are missing.
Ebony, I think. Keys appear to be nickel plated.
The sections are 10 1/16 inches, 9 inches, and 2 9/16 inches long (the barrel). The bell’s diameter is 3 1/8 inches.
I’m certain this will need a lot of work to play properly. Pads, corks, cork gaskets between sections, etc. Springs seem to work but I don’t know if their tension is as it should be since I don’t play. Has just been cleaned, polished, and given a light coat of boiled linseed oil.
There’s noticeable wear on the key’s plating, so this instrument was played a lot.
I don’t see any cracks. There are three small filled holes on one section, I’ve seen these in pics of other clarinets but I don’t know what their purpose is...possibly to facilitate a crack repair.
The case is a wreck, it will serve to protect the clarinet in shipping but you’d probably want to get a better case for this following restoration.
Assume that it will need a complete overhaul to avoid being disappointed.
Sold absolutely AS IS, no refunds, returns, or price adjustments.
