Nate Uslan, Bamboo Fly Rod, 8 1/2', 2/2, Penta., the "Spenser Rod"
One of Uslan's 5 sided specimans, a Penta fly rod, a virtual power house to cast.  Apparently an early 1950's model, the "Spenser Rod"
inscription is on the butt  section shaft in Black ink, and serial number 8514.  Each rod section is labelled # 7119.
The cork grip is western style,with a cork reel seat with screw up fitting and front reel seat under/inside the cork grip (similar to EC Powell style seat). The ferrules are Super Z style and female labeled so, see photo..  Louis Feierabend, inventor of the Super Z ferrule collaborated and worked with Nate Uslan for several years.
The silk wraps are copper colored, the varnish finish is smooth and nice. All sections of the rod are full length and straight, with excellent ferrule fit.  This rod comes in the original brown cloth bag and a new black aluminum rod tube.
A 6 wt fly line was very effective on this fly rod. The rod is in very good to excellent and restored condition and ready to fish.
