I had this rod built 8 yrs ago and have only fished it once, it has been sitting in the tube since and you can still smell the varnish when popping the cap, straight as an arrow excellent pop on the ferrules baked finish like the original Payne’s step down Bailey Woods csg n/s ferrules struble n/s winding check , struble d-27 cap and ring Reelseat n/s blued as well as a snake brand #10 red agate stripper guide blued , the guides are snake brand bronze , the grip is a 6”struble cigar,the strap and ring hook keeper came off of a vintage cane rod,tip tops are tich the best materials went into the building of this sweet casting rod, considered the lightest fastest dry fly 5 wt Rod Payne built.
