Phillipson Ed. M. Hunter "Approved" bamboo fly rod 8 1/2' 3/1: revised

Description

Up for sale is a Phillipson crafted Ed. M. Hunter Approved fly rod.  8 ½’ 3/1. Rod tube and bag are included.  The rod bag may be original, the rod case is not. This is a blue-collar rod.  It is not mint.  There has been a slight repair to the forward side of the grip and the grip has been sanded.  The tip has an upward sweep.  Ferrules, varnish and wraps are in good shape. The rod went in for a complete check-up by a well-known restoration pro.  And is functionally sound all over.  Dark cane.  The reel seat is not the standard reel seat found on Hunter rods, but a regular Phillipson “no-rock” reel seat.  The ferrules are 12/64 and17/64.  Actual measurements are .265 and.172.  Although this rod has the same ferrules and length of the 8 ½’ Paragon by Phillipson the taper on this rod is, in my hand – faster than my Paragon.
I feel that while the Paragon is rated for an HDH a #5 fits that rod better.
This Ed. M. Hunter could handle an HDH #6 very well in my opinion.
