RARE!!! Bristol internal line (eyeless, no eyes) telescoping 8’ 6” steel fly rod walnut grips & Hendryx 40 yd Fly Fishing Brass Reel.
This VERY RARE Bristol steel fly rod is one of the earliest models of Bristol’s telescoping steel fly fishing rods!!!
RARE FEATURE DESIGN!!!! It has the very early feature of internal line (eyeless, no eyes) design - the line runs through the center of the pole! The line is fed off the reel through a hole in the walnut wood handle.
The fly rod has a walnut handle with a spiraled plastic material handle. It is in very good condition. It is marked “THE HORTON MFG. CO. BRISTOL CONN.” under the reel seat.
There are 3-30” interior sections and the handle section measures 32” long. It measures 32” retracted and 8” 6” extended (loses some length in the section joints).
The base cap unscrews to allow access to all the rod sections. The lower butt end is missing the set screws and is loose.
This is a used rod and it has some scratches and surface rust on it.
Includes a brass Hendrix fly fishing reel - 40 yd. It has the old fishing line spooled on it. The reel Works!
