    Description

It's my pleasure to offer at auction a Very Nice and somewhat Scarce 1932 HEDDON No.6 "JIM HEDDON'S FAVORITE" 5 FT., 2-PIECE SPLIT BAMBOO BAIT CASTING ROD WITH ORIGINAL LABELED BAG & ALUMINUM TUBE. The "Jim Heddon's Favorite" was Heddon's most popular bamboo bait casting rod, from its introduction in 1909 until the end of production in 1952. Because this example is marked as the "No.6" (it would be re-designated the No.600 in 1933) and is equipped with the chrome plated nickel silver reel seat (first used in late 1932), we know this to be a one-year model made only in 1932. Heddon's Cleo Hanley has handwritten "Heddon" diagonally along three flats and "#6" below that, on a single flat. Comes equipped with genuine agate guides & tip top, nickel silver welted and serrated ferrules & winding check, screw-locking "Hold-Tite" reel seat, solid cork tournament grip & fore-grip and wound in red silk tipped in black. Rod is in about Very Fine condition for these, showing light wear. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination whatsoever. Both sections are the correct length and are quite straight. Original varnish shows some very small areas of thinning, but is still in good shape. Rod shaft markings are pristine. All guides, tip top, ferrules and winding check remain nice. Reel seat adjusts perfectly. All wraps are solid and complete. The solid cork grip and fore grip are superb. Put up in the original Heddon labeled bad and period aluminum tube, both in nice condition. A very nice example of this one-year model from James Heddon's Sons, all original and complete. To be sold with a very low starting bid and NO RESERVE. Buyer to pay .00 shipping via U.S. Priority Mail, with full insurance and tracking. Payment must be received within 3 days of auction closure. Thanks for your time and good luck.
