Provenance on all turquoise is provided by the mining family.
For a number of decades the Edgars were the kings of turquoise in the world.
They owned and operated over forty of their own mines plus a substantial number of digs in Eureka, Elko and Lander counties in Northern Nevada.
Cutler Edgar and JW Edgar worked with a lot of the other well-known miners of their time, from Orvil Jack to Marvin Syme, Doc Wilson, Lee Hand, Doc Ingersoll and so on.
Ranchers, farmers, precious metals miners and people that just liked to be in the outback of Northern Nevada knew that if they ran across turquoise that they could probably interest the Edgars in it.
Orvil Jack was known as the best turquoise miner or best miner in general pf all.
They were all very successful and were full-time miners.
Almost all turquoise miners did it as a hobby/pastime because they did not find it profitable enough to put food on the table every month.
Orvil Jack and the Edgars only mined as an occupation.
