    Description

Here we have a Very Rare and Early American Flyer O Gauge #1107 Brown Lithographed Coach from 1916 that has the very rare Wood Sided scribing for auction.  This type of scribed (added lines) was done to mimic and represent the contemporary wooden coaches and was made only from about 1914-1916. Nice, attractive, brown, orange, red, and black lithographed body with scribed wood detail. This one is lettered "American Flyer Line", and "1107".
This was part of American Flyer's 5 1/2" passenger car series with four wheels, intended for clockwork operation. This one has the very early frame with straight slots for its couplers and the early (pre 1918) hook couplers. All original and complete except it is missing its roof and some glue was used to hold body to frame. Black roofs can be found on eBay that will fit from time to time.
With the lithographed scribing to simulate wood, it is very much harder to find than 1916 and later #1107's
    Detail Condition:
    #1107 American Flyer Coach:
Overall is G+(C5+). Details: One side is EX- (C7-) with a little very minor bending , while the other side is VG+(C6+) with some bending and very minor spider webbing of the lithography. One end is EX (C7) , while the other end is VG(C6) with a scratch or two and some minor spider webbing of the lithography. Frame and wheels are VG(C6) with a few scratches. I cannot see the bent tabs on the frame so they either broke off or were bent over when the body was glued in place. Roof is missing.  The bends are not creases and could be smoothed out and the lighting and photography make the spider webbing look worse than it actually is.
Very low starting bid and no reserve! If you win this auction, you will receive the #1107 coach shown in the photographs.
I have been collecting and researching American Flyer O & S Gauge for 46 years and TCA member since 1975. I strive to accurate describe the cosmetic condition of each item with TCA Grading Standards and the rarity and desirability by my long experience with these trains. When appropriate, I will grade all visible surfaces, or if they grade the same, I provide an overall condition grade. Also, I point out any reproduction parts that I recognize or any surface restoration that appears to not be original.
