Vintage Abercrombie & Fitch 8’ Featherweight Fiberglass Fly Rod.

Offered for sale is a vintage Abercrombie & Fitch 8’ Featherweight fiberglass fly rod weighing 3 ¾ oz.
Examination of the rod and its guide wrappings in particular indicates it was probably made for A&F by Phillipson although it is not labeled as such.
It is not marked for line weight but I have cast it with both 5wt and 6wt lines and it does quite well.  It has a very interesting cigar shape grip with a slip ring and also has Super Z brass ferrules.
For a more than 50-year-old rod, it is in very, very good shape.
The cork handle with knurled brass ring reel holder shows minimal wear.
The guide wrappings could probably use a new coat of varnish.
The second guide down from the tip top has had an over-wrap done to keep the guide anchored and about 13 inches down from the tip top there are a couple of nicks in the fiberglass.
Please examine the photos closely as I have tried to give as accurate as possible a picture of the rod.
The rod is certainly fishable as it is, could be displayed as it is or could be restored with minimal work.
This is an opportunity to own an important transitional fly rod probably made by a well-known manufacturer and sold by what was then America’s leading high end sporting outfitter.  If you pay the “buy it now” price, I will include a brand-new cloth rod sock and White River tube case.
