    Description

Vintage bamboo fly rod, Goodwin Granger "Special". Granger rods were manufactured in Denver by Goodwin Granger Rod Company, and then after 1946, when the company was sold, by Wright & McGill.
This Goodwin Granger “Special” 8040 (circa1934-38), has the "patent pending" nickel silver uplocking screw reel seat. Rod looks to have been nicely refinished (reportedly by Brackett, before my time). An 8 foot, 4 weight, 3/2, both tips original length. Coke bottle shaped cork grip is in very good shape with a bit of ridging. Cane rod is in lovely overall condition, straight, no scratches or blemishes. Casts, mends, and fishes well. Includes original tube and sleeve.
